Another Road Trip ......

Mom went to a Stake Relief Society service project at the stake center and then when she got home suggested we take a road-trip.  She read an article in this morning's paper that Shelly Gilmore (Ryan's Mom) had an exhibit of her artwork at the Dahmen Barn.  She makes welded sculptures out of odds and ends, old tools, and rusty junk.  They were very interesting and very good.  You would have to have the right place and motif to display them.  No, we didn't buy any.
I was more fascinated with the construction of the barn and the renovations it went through to bring it to what you see today.  I would like to go back in June when they have a potter's wheel class and demonstration.
Inside the barn.  Mom checking out some of Shelly's art pieces.
I love the post and beam construction.  They used cables to pull it back into proper alignment before they could finish the interior bracing.
The famous steel/iron fence.  Supposedly 1004 wheels.  After the barn we drove thought town looking for the bakery.  Found it (not too hard since Main Street is only about four blocks long).  Mom had a big chocolate chip cooking and I had a fantastic lemon bar.  Got a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread for breakfast.
The St. Boniface Catholic Church.  Their Assembly Hall is at right.  It is now a Bead and Breakfast.
 The Bed and Breakfast.
The Uniontown Co-Op.  It was a beautiful day and I thought this typified the local farm economy.

Wren's blessing and other happenings

We're sitting here watching the snow, so I thought I'd post a few updates on what we've been up to. We blessed Wren in church last week. Some of Kelly's family made the trip from NY, and afterwards, we snapped a few pics. Feel free to scroll quickly - lots of pics

Our friends Sarah, who lives with us
We also got more solar panels last week
The cousins! From my trip to Moscow
Friday they had a ceremony at my new job where everyone was called to the front and presented with a flag from the country of their first assignment. It wasn't too suspenseful for me because I already knew we are being sent to Brazil, but many others had no idea where in the world they were going. It was like The Price Is Right mixed with mission call openings as each person was called to the front to receive their flag and assignment.
This girl is in my class and will be going to Sao Paulo with us
