Aunt Brenda says that for the last couple of weeks Grandpa has been getting worse and worse (he got dizzy when he stood up, he fell down on the way to the bathroom, he was out of breath all the time, etc.) so she made an appointment to see his doctor on Tuesday. When they got there his blood-oxygen was 61% (it should be about 98%). They put him on oxygen and sent him straight to the hospital. That afternoon they ran an EKG and took chest x-rays. They suspected congestive heart failure or pneumonia. The EKG came back OK and the chest x-rays showed his lungs clear of pneumonia but something cloudy in there. They kept him over night and are trying to figure it out. They sill didn't know so they kept him again last night. During the night he got up to use the bathroom by himself (a definite no-no) got dis-oriented and they had to send two guys in white coats to get him back in his bed. They gave him stern warnings not to try it alone again. I think he got the message. Along with this, his blood-oxygen level fell down into the 80's. I visited with him tonight and he seems just fine again. He is coherent and just waiting to see what they find.
The doctor wants to keep him in the hospital until Monday so they can keep checking him and so he is not home alone. When he does go home, he will probably go to Brenda and Chucks until everything is stabilized, assuming they figure out what is wrong.
That's it for now. Keep him in your prayers.
