Sister Dixon

Do any of you happen to remember Riley Dixon? We went to Timmy and Erin's ward today out in North Bend to bless their new baby and I happened to recognize one of the sisters. That's right Riley Dixon is serving a mission. I went and said hello to her, and I think I blew her mind. She's been out for about 14 months now. Small world, eh?

Dear Braxton

Uncle Seth and Weston are doing well. Uncle Seth is sleeping right now because Sunday is the day of rest. Uncle Seth works a lot and plays softball. Weston is running around causing trouble. He thinks he is so funny, and so do I. Did you enjoy flying the kite? You should ask Grandpa about his kite, he has a really cool one. I think you look just like Ammon. How many arms did you come home with? Tell Kanyon, Raya and Adria hello for me. Weston says, "Toodles!"

This bachelor thing is getting to be contagious. First Dad is all alone and now it is my turn. Les took the kids over to Utah with her mom. Her sister Tina blessed her baby today. I got an email from Ty using Travis's email so I guess they made to Travis's house for a visit this afternoon. Les plans on spending a few more days out there and then they will head over to Vail for the Fourth of July. I'm headed up there Tuesday night after work.

Things here are good. The house continues to have several showings each week. We keep getting favorable reviews that the house shows well. We even had a second showing. I keep telling myself that it only takes one.

This week we bit the bullet and decided to get the Explorer's transmission fixed. We held off as long as we could hoping to sell the house before starting a minivan payment. I'm glad that it will be fixed. I was not too excited about going into winter without any four-wheel drive.

Stripling Warriors and Summer Shades

Not a whole lot to report on. The boys went to a primary activity day yesterday and dressed up like Ammon. Lisa snapped the shot of Raya in the car. We bought a kite at the scout auction a few weeks ago and flew it on Friday night. It was fun watching it "pull" Kanyon.

From Moscow

This is the house I grew up in. We lived in it for 4 years north of Warden and then moved it west of Warden and lived in it for 5 more years. It was a pre-fab from a military base down by Portland. Grandpa bought it, colapsed it wall by wall onto itself, set it on a truck bed like the one in the piture and hauled it to Warden. Then they used Great Grandpa's old army truck with a boom and stood it all back up. They had taken a chain saw and cut the floor in half lenghwise so it could be stacked on the truck. Eugene and I lived in the bedroom in the right-hand corner facing us. I had forgotton how really small that house was. I always thought it was a great place to live. I guess you could call this Grandma and Grandpa's first real "motor home".

Here it is Sunday afternoon and time to heat up the airwaves. We had a nice meeting today. During the summer there are only about 15-20 couples (plus children) at church each week. When we start the meeting it looks like we will each have to bear 5 minute testimonies but as we go along more arrive. Last month and this month have been two of the best fast and testimony meetings we've had. We got two new families last month and today there were two more. They start to trickle in during July and then in August we get tons.

Yesterday we had a ward temple day. Mom and I took Grandpa and went to the 10:00am session. There were 5 other couples from the ward. The acting elders quorum president had lined up babysitting with a ward in Spokane and they watched the kids in the stake center beside the temple. Then in the 11:30 session there were another 5-6 couples (or single sisters if their husbands couldn't make it). Larry and Pat Woodbury were in our session. A young couple from our town ward was having their new adopted baby sealed to them so Pat and Larry had done a session waiting for that to happen. Grandpa bought as a subway sandwich and we came home.

Seth and Lacey should be here Tuesday evening and then stay for the rest of the week. They will probably go to the cabin on the 4th. We are looking forward to seeing Weston again.

I was just looking at the weather report. It has been great all spring and now they are predicting 100 degrees on the 4th of July. I guess it had to come sooner or later.

Last Sunday was fun to read the blog. It seemed that everyone went crazy with their "posts" and then their "comments". It is all great fun to read.By this time we assume Kelly is home. Hope all went well.

About our trip to Denver to baptise and bless. It looks like we will be driving. Lacey and Weston will probably come with us. We are working up a schedule but this is what we are thinking. Leave Moscow about mid week before the baptism. Drive up to Coeur d'Alene and head east on the freeway. Turn south and go down through Yellowstone Park to Cody Wyoming. Go through one or all five museums (Buffalo Bill, Remington Arms, etc.) and then go east and eventually south to Fort Collins and Denver. It will probably take us 3 days to get there. We will stay and visit and visit and visit and then head home. Leslie, we tried this last time but didn't plan ahead enough so would you look into tickets/tours of the Denver Mint? Everything is in the early planning stages right now. We'll keep you posted as it matures.
