I fell in love with this truck when he rounded the corner. The man in the background owns the Reliance Museum in Estes Park. This is one of his trucks from his collection. (He also owned the truck that was shooting the big spray of water across the pond in our last fire truck post.)
This truck has its pump on the front of the engine. Because the pump pulsates, the chrome dome is filled with air and acts like a shock absorber to even out the flow of water through the hoses.
We rode on our neighbor's truck through the parade.

This truck came in "hot" with lights and sirens blaring as if reporting to an airport scene. He couldn't use his foam as it takes forever to clean up, but he had fun showing the various nozzle configurations.
Here is an extracation. The firefighters showed us their tools and then began cutting off the roof to get the victim out.

Here they are lifting the roof off. Notice the firefighter in the back seat keeping the victim calm throughout the process. They say it is kind of scary to have a car cut apart as you are trapped inside.
The victim was slid up onto a back board and then carried onto a stretcher. They were planning to finish by putting her in a life flight helicopter, but it was diverted to a real life accident at the last minute.
