Post-it Notes

Some of you may have seen Weston's post-it note pleas for a dog a couple of weeks ago on Facebook.
Here's how we responded this last week.
We are excited to see everyone in a couple of days. The pass was closed yesterday, so any and all prayers will be much appreciated as we (and everyone else) travel.
Enjoy your turkey this week!

A Couple More Pics

I don't want to bore you but here are a couple more pictures of some random evens in my life.

50,000 Boy Scouts at the 1964 Valley Forge National Jamboree.  Can you find Waldo, oops, I mean me?  Sorry, I can't either because I took the picture.
Aunt Tami and Charmaine during one of the snowiest winters I can remember (1968).
My missionary district (I was the DL) took the hydrofoil (60 MPH when up on the foils) to Macau, a gambling mecca controlled by Portugal off the south coast of China.  It is about 60 miles west of Hong Kong.  My mission president said each district could take one P-Day and go as tourists.  We rented a cab (the driver is in the center of the picture reaching for his cigarettes).  We all chipped in and bought the "wedding roll" of firecrackers.  The cab driver is about to light it.  Another picture I have shows the elder at right holding the taxi cab driver's cigarette he used to light it with.  We threatened to blackmail the elder if ever necessary.  Afterwards we looked behind us (to the right of the picture) and the Communist Gunboat that had been quietly laying at anchor in international waters (about a mile away) was lined with soldiers stand on deck with guns ready.  We quickly and quietly got in our taxi and got out of there.  Crazy missionaries !!!!!

New Pictures

While Mom was cleaning her office she found a bunch of old CD's and laid them on my desk.  I was looking through them and found some cool old pictures.  I'll put a few on the blog just for fun.
Do you remember: the original color of the house, the mustang, the "small" tree in the front yard?
Lacey in the tire swing at G&G's in Warden
Kevin and Matt on a bike: tin freezer, Shears three columnar arborvitae.
The first morning of our trip with G&G on our way to Dubuque, Iowa.  This is the rest area on I-90 between Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene where we stopped to have Mom's home make cinnamon rolls.  Stay tuned for more next time.

Hello!!!

For a few months we've had a squirrel roaming around in the crab-apple tree in the front yard.  Now that the leaves have fallen we get a better view of him.  Over the years we've seen birds get "drunk" by eating the crab-apples that ferment once they freeze and have all that sugar in them.  I'm not sure it has turned to alcohol yet but this guy seems to enjoy eating them.  I took this picture from my recliner in the living room. This is the excitement that comes into our lives now that we are retired.

MINNIE MOUSE!

Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate!
Raya, Adria, Riley (AKA Minnie Mouses or would it be Minnie Mice?) just arrived at Spokane Arena for some girly fun!

We scored the cushy seats.  Our backsides thanked us! It was a girls day out to Disney On Ice, only Cole was allowed to accompany us on this adventure.  For some weird reason none of the males wanted to join us.  I can't imagine why!

The crew came out in large numbers for the opening song.

Even a few of the Villains stopped by for a little Halloween party.

We had a great time!  The girls were ecstatic as each new character emerged.  And we made it through the whole show without having to leave.  Riley was not super happy here right at the end of the day but just "one more picture".

Halloween

The crew. We went to several trunk-or-treats and chili cook-offs. We also went to our neighbor's festivities at their church. The kids can't believe how much candy they have. It just might magically disappear...

I attempted to change our Halloween main course this year because we always have sloppy joes for Seth's birthday and I can only handle so much sloppy joe, but I obliged and we had our meal tonight.
The orange jello was delightful. I completely forgot to make sugar cookies sprinkled with jello, so we'll have to take care of that this week. Because, we need more sugar....

This child was given a real knife this year. It was a little terrifying.
Happy November!!! We're getting excited to see everyone at Thanksgiving!

Halloween

Our Ward had their Chili Feed and Trunk-or-Treating on Thursday night so Friday Mom and I went to the temple then over to Post Falls for dinner and to Trunk-or-Treat with Matt, Kimbre, Kevin, Lisa, and families.  It rained most of the night but no one seemed too upset about the whole thing.
Kevin, last one at the table after the Orange & Black Dinner.
You had to watch out where you stood (or sat).  Lisa had these all over the house.
 Matt with Mickey Mouse.
Snow White with Mini and Mickey Mouse.
 A Burglar, a Head on a Platter, a Cowgirl, and a Witch.
The gang Trick-or-Treading in Kevin and Lisa's neighborhood.
Some Trick-or-Treaters gave out a little early.
The Last Leaf.  Hey, that would make a good name for a Mormon Movie.  This is the last leaf on the tree outside the kitchen window.  Mom and I are going down to Lewiston tomorrow to see the new Meet the Mormons movie.  Have the rest of you see it?  Happy November!!!!!!

Riley's 3yr Pictures

Since Cole was born I kinda slacked on getting Riley's pictures taken when she turned three.  So four months later, I had a friend take some and they turned out great!
