We decided to leave early Friday morning and take our time to visit places we "used to go". Here we are entering Warden.
Warden LDS Church. It looked really nice.
Our home in Warden. Didn't look too bad but was a little overgrown.
Looking north on Main Street (Asgrow buildings way in the back). A lot of the town was boarded up, closed, run down, etc. It looked the worst I've ever seen it. Many houses that used to be the "nice ones" had dead lawns, dead trees, and weeds.
G & G's house. It looked great! New siding, roof, windows, and landscaping.
Chico's, enough said. We did not stop for a pizza.
Skyline Miniature Golf Course in Moses Lake. Mom and I came here when she came to Warden in April of 1973 just before we got married. It looks pretty sad now.
If you look closely you can just make out, "Skyline Drive-In Theatre". The museum is something new to the area. This was the only outdoor drive-in in the area. I once came here on a four-ple date and watched four Edgar Allen Poe classics. I think we got home sometime the next morning. There were eight of us in Rodeback's 1965 Ford LTD.
Ephrata Raceway. Mom and I used to come here to watch the stock car races when we lived in Quincy.
Ephrata Airport (WWII Air Base). We lived in one of the old barracks for a few months when we first came to Washington (G & G, Eugene, and me). This is were Brenda came to pick me up when I returned from my mission. Notice the beautiful sage brush in the foreground.
Our home in Quincy. Bottom right for a few months (one bedroom). Then bottom left for the rest of the time (two bedrooms). It looks terrible!
Quincy Hospital where Matt was born. It's been remodeled since 1981.
Had to stop for some samples. They were just as good as ever.
We pass this museum every time we go to Cashmere so we decided to stop this time. It is all about the Indian tribes that lived in the Columbia Basin area. Lots of artifacts, stories, and history. We could have spent hours here.
Had to have my usual Railroad picture.
Out behind the museum is a whole big area with 1800's era log structures from the area that have all been moved to this spot. They are all furnish with "stuff" from the period. Mom is standing in front of the school. Notice the bars on the door to keep the kids from escaping (joke).
Our lodging in Leavenworth. Our room is the window on the second floor corner (left side of this picture) by the blue tree. You can see the pickup in the far parking lot.
When we booked reservations a few months ago the only room left was the Executive Suite. It was "VERY" nice. Big king-sized bed, fireplace, lots of room, and great view of the area.
We drove down the highway a couple of miles to this place to buy a couple of pumpkins (to replace the one Mom gave the Mutual kids on Wednesday when they came by on a hunt for something "bigger or better" than the last house had given them). We also got a bag of apples. Fantastic!!
Leavenworth "Front Street" from our motel. We like the "easy walking distance."
At noon they have this little parade. Here is the beer wagon headed for the Beer Garden to "tap the keg." We skipped that part.
Our first "Selfie" from the golf course with our motel in the background.
Us in front of the Leavenworth sign. As usual, we had a great time. We went to church there on Sunday. One of the families in the ward was a Facilities Manager from Yakima that had retired a couple of years ago. It was nice to see him again. We got home late Sunday night after a very enjoyable weekend.
