Dad, why do we have St. Patrick's Day?

Do people get presents on this day? Do we have a feast? Do we remember anything? What is it for?

What is it for? I don't know, but I'm sure glad mom still celebrates it.

Lisa has me working on a St. Patty's Day craft right now. She printed a shamrock pattern and then taped it to butcher paper and cut it out of the paper. Then she ironed the shiny side of the butcher paper to a blank t-shirt. Next she painted the shamrock green with acryllic paints. That's where she stepped out of the process because she has a headache. I got to paint the edges of the shamrock with glittery paint. Right now I'm waiting for it to dry before pulling off the pattern. I also get to make two more t-shirts like this so that Braxton, Kanyon and Raya each have one. Lisa sure married a pretty good guy.

Here it is!!!!

After 22 years in Moscow and 6 in Warden we finally signed up for cable TV and when it arrived we "junked" the antenna. I figured that at today's price we saved about $4000.00 in cable fees over the years. That doesn't count the $10,000.00 we spent in frustration every time it rained. We are now the proud owners of 22 TV channels. We can watch This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop on three different channels.

The weather has reverted to winter. It snowed about an inch Friday night and a "skiff" last night. It melts by noon but is still a little cold.

Seth, Lacey and boys just left Bellevue and should be home in about 5 hours. Tomorrow everyone heads back to school. Spring break is nice but at some point you have to go back to the old salt mine.

I was just out taking the picture of the antenna in the Ranger and Joe said that Scott just sold his old green Ranger. Someone paid $1500.00 for it. They saw it on Craig's List.

Leslie, you give me new hope. I started walking to lose weight and then faded but after hearing about you running that race I have new incentive. I am very impressed!!!

She did it!!!

As part of the new and improved RS enrichment activities, our ward's sisters decided to run a 5K race together. They created a calendar to get in shape in six weeks. Les has been running in our house, the church and the club- often with three kids running behind her. Before the race she could do the 5K in about 48 mins.

Saturday was the big race. It was a St. Patrick's Day 5K in Highlands Ranch. Part of the course actually ran the bike paths by Erik and Jaime's church buildings. There were about 20 sister's from our ward that partcipated. Some ran and some just walked. Les was able to run almost the entire course- she walked up the steep hills. She did a great job and in the end ran her fastest time of 40 mins. That is less than 13 min a mile!

I brought the kids along and we had a fun time watching Les get ready at the start line and then cheering her on as she crossed the finish line. It was a little cold and windy but the sun was out so it gradually warmed up.

So after 5 years and 3 months of marriage, T-rav and I have finally purchased our first home furnishing item (everything else we scrounged up somehow). Yesterday, after collecting the required dollar amount for a new table and chairs, we headed to IKEA for some Swedish meatballs and table shopping. It's a pretty sweet table with hidden leaves underneath the main table top. To get them out you lift up the top level and pull out the leaf on each side. Neat-o.

But to me, the best part is the chairs. I was getting sick of the byu ex-desk chairs, relegated to the dump where our crafty t-rav fished them out and brought them home to match our donated table. Our old chairs are curently on the front porch, awaiting a "free" sign so the Mexican neighbors can haul them off.
