Horses and Cousins

We took a quick little camping trip to Assagteague Island on the Maryland coast this weekend. It was cold and windy, but we still had a good time. We had hoped to see some of the wild horses that live on Assateague and see the town that inspired the book Misty of Chingoteague. It was cold and a little early in the season for anything to be open, but it was a fun quick trip. 

Tonight we also went to Cousin Laurie's house for dinner. Her husband was in Colorado for some training, so we ate dinner with Laurie and her kids and then talked about old times, G-ma/G-pa Backlund, and all of the places she has lived. Kelly had never met Laurie, so I don't think I had seen her in more than 10 years. She looks exactly the same and Kelly thought she was just like Aunt Linda. 

I almost took a dip in the ocean next to our campsite, but 30 degrees was a bit cold.

For some reason all of the horses were just standing in the road. This guy stood here while the guy in the blue car took his picture and we watched, and he was still standing there five minutes later when we came back down this road.

Jungle Book

This weekend was the big show- The Jungle Book.  Les was the co-director, the three girls were monkeys (think King Louie), Tyler was the stage manager and Aly and I were the audience.  The kids did a great job and you could tell everyone invovled was having a good time.  I believe they sold out all three of their shows.

The show was held at the local theater called the Armory.  It is a nice facility with a cool history.  Les and another lady from church directed the show for the Platte Valley Players, a local theater group.
