a lil update

I know you're all just dying to know how are Italy plans are going (if you're not, I'm going to tell you anyway). Here's the scoop: I found an American woman who owns a school in Reggio Emilia (which is located near in the north-central part of Italy, just before the top of the "boot" flares) and actually wants to hire me. The only catch is that the European Union has made it next to impossible for a non-EU citizen to work in the EU (especially for English teachers). This lady is going to try to see if she can convince the government to grant her a work visa for me anyway (claiming I have special skills), while I'm planning to pester the Italian consulate here. Neither of us are holding our breath, but it would be kind of nice if we got lucky and the quirky Italian government decided to make an exception for me. I'm sure they would if they only knew how obsessed I am with their country...
