Riley's First Birthday

Riley turns 1 on the 21st, but since we were in town we decided to celebrate a few days early.
She was a little reserved when it came to unwrapping her presents.
Kimbre made some cupcakes and we did the traditional cake smash.

High Park Fire

Here is the view off the back deck of the High Park Fire which is burning west of Fort Collins.  The fire had slowed down a bit over the last few days, but with the hot temperatures and wind it picked back up.

Life as a homeless family is going well.  We are working to move up our closing date on our new house by a few days, so that we will have a little more time to unpack before we leave for the reunion.  We should find out this week.

We are getting excited to see everyone!  Moscow get ready for the Zirker Zoo!

C&O Canal Towpath

Here's some pictures from a recent bike trip I took on the C&O Canal Towpath

Starting out in Georgetown just six miles from our house
The view for most of the trip
These old aqueducts carried the canal, towpath, mules, and boats right over existing rivers
Just before the entrance to the Paw Paw Tunnel
The finish line in Cumberland, MD. When you travel by yourself, it's hard to find anyone to take a picture. That's why only my bike shows up in all the shots.

Artwalk

My friend Megan and I are participating in Moscow's Artwalk this year. Businesses downtown are showcasing different artists and their work throughout the summer. Opening night receptions were held Friday night. We have our stuff at Farmers Insurance where Megan works. It was fun to meet new people and make new connections.

This week was our ward Father's and Son's camp out.  Matt and Kimbre came down (she did several heads of hair while he camped).  Seth and boys came out after work.  The camp out was at Moose Creek Reservoir.  I had been there once many years ago and was not impressed but this weekend it was beautiful.  Everything was green, the weather was great and a good time was had by all.  Some fished, others ran around, others ran around again, and others ran around some more.  This ward does things a little different (not so much sitting around a big camp fire - we just sat around our own fire).  We left about noon and drove up the road aways and went through a couple hundred rounds of 22's.  I got to shoot my new Henry's Golden Boy 22 that I have had for about a year.  Nice!!  Matt and Kimbre are staying over and we will celebrate Riley's 1st birthday today.  They plan to go home tomorrow.
Countdown to the reunion - 14 days.
