We Can't Compete
Sorry folks, we can't compete with the excitement you have in your lives. Everything from removing antenna from 4 story buildings to teaching martial arts. We just get up in the morning and go to bed at night.
Mid week I thought of something I was going to tell you on the blog and now I can't remember what it was. Must be another senior moment.
We got our Explorer fix on Friday. Someone, we think it might have been the sister missionaries Mom hauled around a couple of weeks ago, must have grabbed the rear defroster wiring harness that loops down from the back hatch to the back window and tore it free from the window. It pulled the soldered joint away from the glass so the defroster didn't work. Ford said they don't fix them and referred me to Moscow Glass and Awning. They said they don't fix them either and referred me to Electrical Specialists. They said they would give it a try. They fixed it and charged us a whole whopping $37.00. I had visions of tempered glass flying everywhere when he hit the window with his soldering iron. Luckily he had done it before and knew how to treat the glass gently.
The weather has been fantastic. Today was beautiful. Sunny and up near 40 degrees. The weather report is for more of the same with some rain mixed in. This looks to be a mild and snow-less winter. Great for most people - hopefully we get enough snow in the mountains to feed the rivers and streams.
I talked to Grandpa last week and he has decided that he wants a new computer. I am supposed to look around this week and see what I can find. I am looking at a Dell or HP to replace his old one. It would be nice if I could find one that can respond to an old man's mumbling and grumbling and not live by the garbage-in-garbage-out rule. We'll see what happens. Any suggestions on what I should look for??
Be careful and have a good week.

Most interesting news first: I am pleased to announce that your brother/son will begin teaching karate classes on this Monday eve, two nights a week. He gets a fancy new shiny blue gi (his instructor told him it was a good color on him) and a discount on his fees. He also gets extra private lessons from the Master so he'll be ready for his black belt test in May.
Next. Our brother-in-law will be coming to live with us starting on Tuesday. He's going to attend UVU for ESL classes and work...somewhere part-time. My sister will be moving out here to join him (though preferably not also in our house. I think 4 might be a crowd) in April, once tax season is finished and my dad's accounting firm can spare her (she was threatened with bad things if she quit now). We're putting poor Raphael in a room in the basement. It's kind of like a wood paneling cell. But it's better than being stuck in between 2 book shelves in our study.
Third. Trav made it through his first week of school. Or rather half week. He likes all his classes, especially the one with the Russian speaking Asian professor (who is actually from Kyrgyzstan). And he's also excited about his Survey of Terrorism class. Being the lover of homework that I am, I'm already planning on reading all of his books. Oh, and I'm taking Russian 101 just for fun. And sitting in on a German class so I don't forget everything. Also just for fun.
Fourth. If any of you are longing for a road trip, I have another Irish dance competition Feb 6. I think Aimee should come because she would be the perfect little Irish dancer. Send her along and we'll pick her up on I-70.
Last. Some before and after pictures of our living room.
