Just a quick note about what I've been up to at school. A while back I got involved with a group of students from BYU and UVU that is trying to pass a new law here in Utah. Over the last couple of months we have been meeting with state Senators and Representatives trying to gather support and clarify any concerns about our bill. Since the Utah legislative session started three weeks ago, we have been going up to the Capitol once a week to meet with the Congressmen and women during their floor time. It has been really interesting to watch how things play out as we get sponsors and co-sponsors for our bill and run into opposition and concerns from different people. Today the bill made it to a senate committee meeting and I was one of the people that got to speak in favor of the bill. Now I can put on my resume that I spoke at a senate committee hearing for 45 whole seconds. In the end the committee voted unanimously to pass our bill onto the full Senate for debate and voting. We were a little less worried about our bill when the head of the committee walked in, greeted all of us and made a comment about having a stacked house in the committee while he walked past the guy arguing against us. If the bill makes it past the Senate it will go over to the House for the same thing and then on to the Governor.
