you said WHO is a member of the mo-tab?

You know you've all seen him during conference- the camera always seems to linger upon his beautifully shiny head a disproportionately high number of times- yes, I mean the token black man of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. You know who I mean. And you know you've always wondered what his story was. But who would have guessed that Alex Boye is actually an early 90s British hip-hop-boy-band hearthrob?

It's true. And if you're as intrigued as I was, you should read this article on ksl.com or his bio here.

Matt and Kimbre Update

Everyone (O.K. maybe just two or three of you) keeps asking why we never post and wonders what's the latest news from our neck of the Idaho Panhandle. Well I'll try to stretch it out to a paragraph or two.

Last week, Kimbre got to see firsthand the effects of enamel nail polish fumes and enclosed work spaces with poor ventilation. A customer tipped over a rack of nail polish and broke open a few bottles. Kimbre's boss and a fellow co-worker then spent the next two hours using alcohol and acetone to try and clean up the mess. Needless to say, everyone in the store was a little light headed. The next day Kimbre's coworker was complaining of a headache, lung pain, chills, and shaky hands. With the help of Google they found out that those are the withdrawal symptoms of sniffing noxious fumes. When she's not busy enjoying the free high with her coworkers, Kimbre is reaping the benefits of being a responsible employee while working with others who aren't always up to the task.

On Saturday I was doing my best to stay out of trouble as it was my Friday and I wanted to go home on time. It doesn't always work out that way and sometimes the world decides to explode around you. First off we got a call for a wanted person on the I-90 cameras that scan each license plates as they go by. One of our deputies found the guy at the rest stop and when he lit him up, he took off and the pursuit ensued. I did my best to try and intercept them by rolling at 120 mph halfway across the county. The deputy called off the pursuit due to speed/road conditions, but we found the vehicle and did the whole guns drawn takedown type stop. The driver had bailed and we spent the next hour searching a house and surrounding property to make sure he didn't hole up inside someone's house. Our K9 lost his track and we never did find him, but the guy was nice enough to knock on someone else's door an hour and 2 miles later to ask for help.

That incident was barely wrapped up, when one of the other deputies found himself behind a stolen truck on Hwy 95. Back I went at 120 mph to the other half of the county to assist him. When we got the truck stopped the guns came back out and we did it all over again, only this kid didn't run.

The last excitement came when a 20 year old kid tried to drive too fast in the fresh snow and crashed through a barb wire fence a 5:30 in the morning. He also happened to be drunk. With all that, I ended up getting home right on time for the opening prayer of the Sunday morning session of General Conference.

We recorded the Saturday and Sunday sessions as one or the other of us had to work or sleep during conference. I was awake long enough to watch the Solemn assembly on Saturday morning, that was a real nice treat and a first for me.

Outside of our fascinating work stories, not too much is happening. We've spoken to a few mortgage lenders and our bishop just happens to be a big shot real estate guy in the Coeur d' Alene area, so we've been bending his ear for all the free advice we can. Some day we'll break free of the apartment, the loud neighbors, the shared walls, and bad parking. Until then we'll keep on keepin' on.
