New Calling

There's no tricky way to announce it. I'm now the Stake YM President. We'll keep you posted.

Cory's Peanuty Sandwiches

Here is Ty dressed up for this week's class assignment. They asked the kids to prepare a recipe for a sandwich and then present it to the class. Ty wanted to do a sugar cookie sandwich with peanutbutter cream center. Of course Tyler couldn't just do the simple assignment, he also had to create a costume to go with it. Needless to say, I'm sure his teacher thinks he has crazy, overachieving parents. For those of you from Denver, you will recognize the local sprinkler supplier hat that inspired it all.

We also had our Stake Conference today and since we had the broadcast from SLC last time, this time we got a real live general authority- Elder Hales! I went to the priesthood leadership session yesterday and it was great. Elder Melchin from the Seventy gave a great talk on the restoration of the Melchezidek Priesthood and then Elder Hales gave a great talk on " having his spirit to be with us." Kev- I know you probably already know this stuff but for us heathens it was good stuff.

I got our Focus partly fixed this week. I took it into the adjuster and got a nice little check. I then went to salvage yard and got a tailight for $30. A new one cost $90! Now I need to take it to bodyshop and get the dent fixed. I tried to pop it out but it kept popping back in. It is always something with these cars.
Since it seems that playing with text color is the new thing, I thought I would try a lovely mauve.
Until next time-

It's Sunday

This is a nice picture of Mom visiting with Lacey in the hospital. I like her new "do".

We had a good stake conference today. I would imagine it was very similar to the ones you have had - those of you who have had the Salt Lake generated conferences. After church Mom took dinner over to Seth and Lacey and I went to a Scout Court of Honor. It was a little tough to prepare for because the scout had called me twice to ask me to speak and to remind me and both times he couldn't really tell me what I was supposed to talk about and how long I was to talk. I prepared a bunch of extra stuff just in case and when I got there I asked his dad what I was supposed to do. In the end I talked about 3-4 minutes and basically started the Court of Honor. I choked up a little at the end of one story but the Scoutmaster, Chuck Crossler, outright sobbed for a minute or two when he talked so I didn't feel so bad.
Now we are home and relaxing - oops, the phone just rang and it was another scout wanting to come hand in all the paperwork on his Eagle Project. Well, life marches on.
Mom is working on her homework for her college class. She took three days off to help Lacey (and Seth), he is till wounded and can't walk too well.
Not much else happening around here. Thanks to those who called or blogged Grandpa. I think he is kind of getting the hang of the blog and starting to take some pictures off for his files. He has just about finished his Christmas card.
That's it for now.
