Moton Field - Home of the Tuskegee Airmen in WWII. The hangars in the background are original and now house the museum.
This guy and I bonded over the name of his shop and memories of Saturday shows on PBS
I couldn't get close enough to get a pic of the grandstands, but I revved my engine in solidarity as I drove by and took a picture.
Every week on the way to and from church, I pass a little abandoned cemetery. Unmarked graves, sunken plots, and cinder block headstones kind of abandoned. I saw this bone laying in one of the sunken graves. Not sure what to think....
Maybe that's why they had to put this sign up in another cemetery I saw.
This is a bathroom door, not an exterior door. It's solid steel and has 3 deadbolts. The lady had it built into her home as part of a safe room after her house was destroyed by a tornado in Tuscaloosa. She lives in a neighborhood with no trees and all of the lots in the area are either empty or have a brand new house on them. You can still see the exact path the tornado took across town.
Nasty pic of the week. That's the inside of a door sensor. The rest of the house was surprisingly clean and roach free.
Hoarder house pic of the week. This was her kitchen counter.
Kelly and I walked around downtown Birmingham this afternoon. This is the 16th Street Baptist Church. Ground zero for a lot of the civil rights battles of the early 1960s - think fire hoses, police dogs, kkk bombs, sit-ins, and boycotts.
