Because of this....
We now have this.....
Actually this is one of the 102 bulbs I planted last fall on the south side of the house. Due to the warm weather (actually I took the picture of the thermometer when it was in the direct sun) the concrete wall acts as a "heat sink" and holds the heat of the sun and warms the ground. I still say we are in for a cold snap in early February. Right now the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and it is a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Gas is $1.60 in Plummer, Idaho and $1.81 here in Moscow. Arbys reopened this morning after being closed for two weeks due to the shooting death of the manager. I saw contractor pickups around the building several times so I think they may have done some clean-up and remodeling to put on a fresh face for the public. They held all three funerals a week ago last Saturday and life is returning to normal. The shooter is sitting in the Whitman County Jail in Colfax on a felony eluding charge and fighting extradition back to Idaho to face three counts of 1st degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
Mom and I are headed out to the post office, the car wash, and the church (I am going to adjust the height of the drinking fountain water - I hate to have to suck the water out when I drink). She suggested that we work down there one day a week and just clean and fix things on our own. I don't think I'm quite there yet.
Travis took us on a virtual tour of their new home last night. It was great and very interesting. They have done lots of things already and have more planned. Isn't it nice not having to worry about the upstairs, downstairs, or sidewall neighbors and you can pound a nail where ever you want.
Happy Trails!
