Just a few pictures to show the "fruits of our labors." The golden arborvitae that we planted about fifteen years ago had become overgrown and just keep taking more and more lawn. Kevin, Matt, Braxton, and Kanyon worked hard to cut it up, haul it away, and dig out the stump (including the one we left there from the mugo pine we had planted 29 years ago). Now, what to plant in its place? Any suggestions?
This morning I finished digging out the grass and putting down five more stones to give me a better walking/standing area when working with the hoses. The grass was getting kind of trampled. I also added a couple of bags of bark mulch.
Ever since you all built the deck about five years ago it is been a little wobbly. I remember the building inspector saying we should add blocking to the joist to keep them from "racking." Well, we did and it really helped. We added two rows and now it's sturdy as a rock.
We tool a few minutes to cut up all the excess boards that had been laying under the deck "just in case we might need them someday." Now they are ready for a campfire at Laird Park (redwood makes rather expensive firewood).
Those not working one the deck project helped Grandma plant flowers in every container she could find. Nice activity.
Just a few more on the front porch.
This morning I threw out the four sweet potato vines we bought in Wenatchee about a month ago and then babied through frost, drought, vacation, etc.. We bought a couple more from Moscow Building Supply and started over. I'll keep you posted on how they are doing.
