Too many Blogs!

I've just spent over two hours surfing various family and friends' blogs. I would find one and that would have a list of friend blogs on the side and that would lead me to another blog and so on. It was fun to see what old friends are doing and how there kids are growing up. Some people have way too much time on their hands and really spruce up their blogs with all kinds of things.

Busy Week

Grandpa puts pictures of his "sweetie" in the family letter so I figure I can too!!!!!

When I checked the blog this afternoon there wasn't too much action, just a few pictures of a couple I didn't recognize that look like they had been in a paint fight (sounds like fun). Mom and I just got home from a missionary fireside and the blog had exploded (not like Koper). Sounds like everyone has been busy. This last week was busy for us too. Out of seven nights last week, I had something on six of them. I wouldn't have gone to the fireside tonight except that a sister from our ward was giving a talk about her conversion. She did a really great job. She just went through the temple three weeks ago and she and her husband will be sealed this summer. The main speaker was President Leon Baker from Moses Lake (he is in the mission presidency). He is about three years younger than me and his dad was my stake president all the time I lived in Warden. He even called me on my mission. Leon and I seem to run into each other quite often lately.
True to form, it snowed several days this week. They even cancelled school one day. That is not typical March weather. It looks warmer on the weather report for this next week.
Mom is upstairs watching TV on the Sabbath. She is watching Sense and Sensibility. It sounds a lot like a female Louis L'Amour. All these Jane Austin stories follow that same plot just different names.
That's about it for now.
We love you all,
Mom and Dad

Spring Breakin'

This week was Spring Break. In order to keep the troops happy, Les planned a small field trip for each day. (Mom you would have been proud, although each day did not involve a theme and a new book.) Over the week they visited museums, attended a magic show and visited a small indoor amusement center. The pictures are from the latter. The center had a huge teddy bear and the kids sat on his lap for a picture.

Friday, we finally got together with Erik and Kevin's families. You would think that we would see more of each other but time flies between visits. I think the last time we were at Erik's was before Christmas. The kids played really well together and the adults had a good time visiting. We even had enchiladas- good stuff!!

Work is in full swing and side jobs have started. I am currently rebuilding a lady's waterfall. Someone built her a pile of _____ that never worked correctly and was ugly. I spent Saturday tearing out the old liner and laying in a new one. I then placed a ton of moss rock around the edges. I didn't think the old Explorer could haul 1200 pounds of moss rock INSIDE of her but she did great. True homeowner style. I took a before picture and when I get it done, I'll show you the transformation. It is a pretty fun little project.

Save some four layer dessert for me Travis!

The Last Sunday of the month

Well, since the first Sunday of March was the first Sunday, and the next two Sundays were Spring Break and the fourth Sunday was Easter, home teaching and visiting teaching were in full swing today. I wish we could have taken an aerial view of our ward boundaries to watch everyone coming and going. After dinner at the parents, we came home so that I could go visiting teaching. I came home and our home teachers came over. As we were getting ready to say the prayer with them, my visiting teachers came over. Mid-visit with the visiting teachers our neighbors came over and we asked them to come back in half an hour. They came back and joined us for the closing prayer with my visiting teachers. We had fun with the neighbors who have two girls the same ages as Weston and Koper. As we were visiting with them, we missed a birthday party for one of our other friends. We have a fun ward.

These past couple of days have been busy. I have been extremely intimidated with the whole starting my own business thing. My good friend put me in touch with another girl who started her own vinyl lettering company and I finally called her yesterday. I'm going over to her place this next week to see how everything operates. My same friend is also my visiting teacher and she informed me that the Law School sets up new businesses for free. The three guys who do it happen to be in our ward and are also our friends from Creekside. I'm hoping to contact the Law School tomorrow to get on a waiting list. I think I've landed on a name. When discussing my logo with Kevin, he threw out "strawberrypearl studios" and I think that's the winner!

Weston has been into playing baseball all day long. He picked up a lot from watching Ned play while we were in Seattle. His Bob the Builder hat is now his batter's helmet. And, his mittens are his batting gloves. He came up with all that on his own and loves to run the bases and then slide. Koper got his first haircut a couple of days ago. I have been restraining myself from cutting it, but after a much needed bath due to the world's biggest explosion, I attacked his hair. I cut about an inch off and managed to keep a decent amount on his head. Weston is next.

The Holi Festival of Colors

Given that there are 3 inches of snow on the ground this morning, we thought it only appropriate to celebrate the arrival of spring. Yesterday was the annual Holi Festival of Colors brought to us by the Hare Krishnas in Spanish Fork, welcoming spring and the downfall of an evil demoness. At 3 times the usual attendance, (with about 10,000 visitors instead of the usual 3000), it was quite the event, especially for Spanish Fork. The thing that makes this festival so much more exciting than the others (Llama Fest, India Fest, Himalayan Fest, all of which involve some type of chanting, dancing, 6 armed gods and delicious food- I love it all) is that for Color Fest you get to throw paint (powdered temper paint, all colors, imported from India) on each other.

First, you watch a play depicting "Holika, a demoness who, immune to fire, burned scores of children before trying to burn a child named Prahlad. When Prahlad prayed to Lord Vishnu, Holika was burned instead." Once the fire is lit under her demonic paper-mache feet, the paint throwing extravaganza begins. This year we were late (my dear friend Katherine can never seem to get anywhere on time, causing us to miss the play and the belly dancing beforehand- grr!), and as we were approaching the temple, stuck in traffic, we saw an enormous cloud of magenta suddenly engulf the area around the temple. We thought we missed it all (I was really really mad), but luckily for us, this year's paint throwing continued for more than 30 minutes. Within 5 minutes of arriving, we managed to buy our paint, find some friends, and cover ourselves in color.

And with all the craziness, we only saw 1 cop who was just patrolling up and down the street. Where else in the world could get a group of 10,000 students and not have any drunkenness (or not too much), fights, drugs (not that we saw, at least) or accidents?

Here's a link to the Daily Herald article about it. And in case any of you are dying to know more about the Hare Krishnas (I know you are), go here.
