Les smells gas and it is not me!

Here is a picture left over from last week. Yes that is a gas line without a cap, and yes it was in our front yard. This spring we noticed some dead grass and a faint smell of gas in our front yard. Les figured it wouldn't hurt anything to call the local utility company and have them take a look. Sure enough they found a leaking cap on the main line. They brought a backhoe over a few days later, dug up our lawn and had it fixed in a few hours. Never a dull moment here.

Here is a shot from this week's adventures with Les and the kids. They had big safety display at a local college here. The kids got to crawl under black carpets that represented a smokey room, they got to practice "stop, drop and roll" and they got to play under a bucket fire truck as it sprayed water down on them. Once again I missed all the fun.
Saturday night we had an EQ Potluck here in our backyard. You never know how many people will show up but we had a great turnout. We had over 50 people and several inactives as well as non-member spouses. My poor first counselor was in charge of cooking the chicken and potatoes in dutch ovens. I pulled back the gravel in the back by our garden and the famous "telephone booth." He was cooking in the heat and sun for 2 hours. In the end, it tasted great!

Have a great week!

The Many Faces of Dad

For Father's day my friend took pictures of the kids "dressed" as dad. If you look close the boys are actually wearing Kevin's clothes.

I framed the pictures and put the sayings on each picture so he can take them to work. He absolutely loved it, and the stroganoff for dinner came in a strong second though. Hopefully, he had a good day. We tried to make him feel special. I guess you'll hear his side of the story later.

Nice View

What's missing?
Just needs the trim
There really is a world out there

Yesterday was the big day. I put the new windows in the garage and the office. I started on the garage and learned as I went. It wasn't too bad except I forgot to caulk around the garage window and the office window wouldn't fit (at first). The new windows are 35 5/8 inches and the opening is 35 1/2 inches. It's amazing what 1/8 of an inch will do. I finally got them in and nailed in place. This week while Mom is gone I will put the trim around the outside and put the sill back in the office. I may get new wood altogether for the office sill. These windows open up a whole new world outside. Two down and three to go. Those over the garage won't be too bad but the living room is going to be a pain. It's not really hard work, it's just that you need to use all kinds of tools and cut a straight line all while standing on a ladder.
Saturday morning while I was installing the first window Mom went to Jakob Limburg's baptism. She said it was very nice. He had on a new suit and smiled from ear to ear. She took Grandpa with her.
She starts her second week of school in Coeur d'Alene tomorrow. She has enjoyed visiting with Matt and Kimbre. Thanks for putting up with her guys. This week I may take a day off (Tuesday) and go up and help Matt change the brakes on his Bronco. He doesn't know this yet but he will as soon as he reads this blog.
Seth, Lacey and family are in Belleview for his brother's high school graduation. It is tomorrow and they will come home on Tuesday.
Thanks for the Father's Day wishes. Mom made donuts for our ward and they were a gigantic hit. One of the elders had at least six. Someone said their wife asked why they get flowers and the elders get something good to eat? Maybe we'll have food for Mother's Day next year.
The weather is beautiful - finally. I hope to have all the windows in by this weekend and then there will be no more excuses to start painting.
Wish me luck.

Happy Padre's Day

Today our ward completely forgot about Father's Day. Well, one of the speakers tried to throw something out there to tie in prayer with fathers...but it didn't really make much sense. Can you imagine what would have happened if the men had forgotten Mother's Day? There would be riots. Mass revolts. Weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. Etc.

So, I hope all you fathers had a lovely day. Happy Father's Day!
