We drove to McCall Friday afternoon, stayed the night and then had breakfast at that Waffle Restaurant we have passed for 27 years. It was great. We arrived at the train station in Horseshoe Bend, took a few pictures, were upgraded from coach to first class, and got ready to board.
Here is our train with engine #1106
It took a while to get all our luggage on board
This is the 1st class car. It was clean, neat and very nicely done. We actually spent most of the time in one of the open air cars.
We're on the way
We saw some interesting botanical specimens along the way
At the upper end of the line we bought a bag of "dirt" and then panned for nuggets. Naturally it had been "salted" with lots of pretty rocks. They served an excellent lunch and then we visited a small museum, panned for gold and took pictures.
I ran into an old friend at the Bank
Even those operating the train were "colorful" people. We disembarked at 3:00 and headed for home. We got home about 7:00 last night. It was a long but fun weekend. The weather was in the 90's a couple of weeks ago and today it is in the 60's. Where did the autumn weather go?
