Farmer's Market

I guess it's time for us to check in... Seth started school this past week and we're trying to figure out school schedules and work. All was going well until Friday afternoon when Seth tweaked his back while lifting some heavy machinery with Larry Loomis. It was in the same spot from where he hurt himself with the loader. I'm ready to move on from this job...He is feeling a little better tonight but he stayed home from church because he couldn't really move and we had to give talks. I did a fabulous job on my talk and I think Seth just couldn't deal with the competition...Loomis's have never had anyone use worker's comp and we really don't want to be the first. Kim Nest is a physical therapist so I may call her for a little advice tomorrow.
In brighter news, I was finally able to do a booth at Farmer's Market!!! Pat Woodbury has been approved for Now and Then to have a booth on the last Saturday of each month, but something always seems to get messed up and they tell us we aren't approved. So, I asked her to call on Monday and see if we could do a booth Saturday. We both weren't banking on it, and then we found out Friday afternoon that we were in. I quickly made some more chunkers and we showed up at 7:00am Saturday with our little treasures. I actually did pretty well and it was fun to talk with people and introduce vinyl to a lot of people. Shelly Ringo was walking around with her family, so after awhile I went up to them and said hello. Shirley even gave me a hug. Shelly is doing well and is a General Practioner in the Seattle area. She says hello, Erik. She hasn't changed a bit.

Happy Birthday Katie!

This week, Katie turned 3 years old. Les made her a clown cake. Her celebration was a short one as we also had "Back to School" night, Cub Scouts, and mutual that night as well. Thanks for the fun gifts Mom (and I guess Dad had a part as well.) She loved playing with all the princess stuff and Lacey's vinyl on the box was a a cute touch.

As Kevin showed you, we are in the process of re-roofong his house. It has been awhile since we three boys worked together. It was fun to swing hammers and try not to fall off from two-stories in the air. I think we all came home with neapolitan arm tans (brown, red and white.) We should get the little we have left finished tomorrow.

Those were the days!!!!! Uncle Joe and Aunt Linda stuffed the Ranchero full of newspapers for our honeymoon.

I just checked in to the stake ham radio net so now its time to blog. This has become my usual Sunday routine. Church was nice today, we blessed two babies and had about 5-6 new families. They are all arriving for the start of school. One visitor introduced his son and the son's girlfriend and we all started razzing her about being single in a married ward. Several times during the lesson, Bishop's 5th Sunday, I made reference to her about being single. When class was over she came up and asked where I was from. When I said Warden, she said, "I think we're related". Come to find out she is the granddaughter of Pam (I don't know her last name) from Moses Lake. Her mother was Toni Barnum, one of Pam's daughters. It's a small world. Grandpa came to church with us - Brenda and Chuck are at the cabin for one last get-away.

Mom and I power washed the house yesterday. It looks pretty good and was a whole lot easier than sanding by hand. Tomorrow I plan to caulk and start priming. One of these days we'll get this thing painted.

Uncle Eugene is coming out to see grandpa in about 10 days. He is riding AMTRAK. I will pick him up in Spokane at 2:00am on the 10th. I plan to visit Matt and Kimbre and then sleep at their house until he calls from the train and then I'll drive to Spokane and meet him at the train station.

Travis and Kelly, are you living out in the street? What's the latest in your lives? We have a basement if you need it.

Rett's Birthday

Rett turned 1 on monday. He was not at all interested in opening presents. Luckily he has four other siblings who love to help. Thanks for the books, clothes and pillow Grandpa and Grandma.

Rett wasted no time with the cake. He just reached over and picked up the whole thing.

Then he spent the next few minutes trying to get in all into his mouth.

Bathtime was a necessity after cake time, and then we moved on to doing tricks. Sitting on his new toy was not fun enough for this little dare devil.

I just got back from helping Uncle Chuck unload his new toy. He has always wanted one and finally got it. This picture is the right model and color. It has 1355 cc's but is call a 1400.

We drove to Warden Friday night and met at the Coral Cafe. We had a good time, lots of food, and a good visit. Mom and I left at 10:30pm and drove down to Asgrow. A guy at the Coral told me Dave Shipley was working the night shift. I walked up through the warehouse (all the smells brought back a lot of memories) and found him in the warehouse office. We had a nice visit and reminisced about old times.

We drove to Moses Lake and stayed in a Motel there. It was very nice. Saturday morning we cruised Moses Lake and then took a round-about way to Warden. I saw a lot of old homesteads where my friends had lived. He had brunch at Wild Bills (not the cleanest place I've ever eaten but the food was good). We drove back to Moses Lake by-way-of another route and saw more places where my friends had lived. We even drove the old drag strip. We rested for several hours and drove back to Warden High School for a tour of the campus. It really is kind of a campus now. It has changed somewhat. The gym looked and smelled exactly the same. Mom kept saying is reminded her of Hoosiers. The floor was beautiful. Then we drove out across O'Sullivan Dam to Potholes State Park. The trees have really grown up and the lawns are beautiful. Then we drove to the golf course pro shop where there is a restaurant. We had a steak dinner out on the patio. It was a nice evening and the weather was great. We visited, got door prizes, took pictures, and then drove back to Moses Lake. Sunday we drove back to Warden and attended church. One of my friends, George Galusha and his daughter (23 years old) asked if they could attend church with us. George's family were very active in the Reorganized LDS Church. They attended sacrament meeting and Sunday school. He said it was quite different than the RLDS. It was nice having them there. His daughter has been attending a singles ward in Eugene, Oregon on her own. We visited with "all" the oldies and had a great time. Cox's, Paynes, Coles, Bucks, Olsens, Cornelsons, Weyands (Dean died about 6 months ago), Lybberts, Whitakers, and on and on. It was great. Erik, Shane Cox just got married a few months ago. He said to say Hi. He looks great and seems to have climbed above the old "Cox" image. He looked and acted very sharp. We left church and drove to the Warden City Park for a linger-longer. There were just a few there. Mr. and Mrs. Underhill (she taught us all typing) stopped by for a visit. They are about the same age as Grandpa. We left and came home. It was a nice reunion and well worth the effort.

Yesterday, we took the kids to the local amusement park in Golden. Nothing too fancy, just fun little rides for the kids. Other than Kori not being too sure of what was going to happen, they all seemed to have a good time.

Not much else going on. Now that school is in full swing, things have slowed down a lot. I was home last Friday due to rain and boy was it quiet. It's funny how taking care of two kids seems like a picnic when you are used to four. The kids are enjoying their new teachers. Aimee comes home everyday and talks about the boys they have chased at school. Boy am I in trouble! Anyone know a good all girls' school in Siberia???

We're Home, Again

We just got home from my 40th class reunion in Warden. We had a great time, meet with old friends, ate good food, and enjoyed attend church with the Warden Ward. We are tired so not much on the blog tonight. I will add pictures and more about the activities tomorrow, I hope.
Hope everyone is happy and enjoying school or about to enjoy school. Mom goes back tomorrow and then the kids start on Wednesday.

First day of school

The first day of school was a success. Aren't they cute in their uniforms? Braxton posed them both, he's a photographer in the making.

The house contract fell through. I think it was probably better, the people were PICKY!!! We're re-roofing and then relisting at the original price. 6 more weeks to try.

I have a three year old

Thursday was Weston's birthday. This year was a horse theme, so I attempted a horse cake. I found the idea at cakecentral.com and was happy with how it turned out in the end. Weston had so much fun getting horse things and even a farmer's hat! Thanks Mom and Dad for the presents. I got my vinyl machine back on Wednesday, so I'll be sending the Zirker logo's out next week. Erik and Jamie I'll send you a chunker that we painted at the reunion for your logo. Seth starts school next week. Lots of our friends have moved out but we've had some new ones move in recently, I'm excited for our girl's nights with new faces!!! Take care everyone.

We can't forget little Kori! She turned 1 on Friday. As is tradition, we made a little chocolate cake and let her stuff her face. Thanks Mom (and Dad) for the PJ's and fun books.

Kennecott Copper Mine

Dad just posted the hightlights of the reunion, so I thought that I would post some of our trip to the copper mine. Man is that one big hole! There are two man made objects visible from space- the Great Wall of China and this copper mine. I could have stayed there forever, just watching all the trucks running around.

As has been metioned earlier, the reunion went by way too fast! We had a great time. It was fun to hang out with everyone and catch up. I also think the shirts look pretty slick- nice design Kevin. Thanks to Mom and Dad for all their hard work. We need to do it again in a year or two.

I hope you will bear with me but I just couldn't choose just one or two pictures. I tried to get one from each activity. I pretty well have them organized and the bad ones deleted so this week I'll try to burn you each a disc. Grandpa is bugging me to send him some too.

We had a wonderful time. Several of you have said how fast the time went by and we all had to get back to work. I guess that's what happens when you are having fun. We hope Travis and Kelly arrive home safely and their house is still standing. Thanks for your hospitality and we hope your downstairs neighbors are still speaking to you.

Erik, Jamie and family, we missed you and wished you could have been there. We'll try again next time (in a couple of years).

We have been busy since we got home. Work has had it's ups and downs and the hot weather really hit. It is about 102 degrees right now. Just as our church was letting out all the power in that part of town went off. The last two wards were meeting by the light of the emergency lights. In the middle of my PPI with the stake president the lights and air conditioning came back on. Don't know what happened, maybe just an overload with everyone running air conditioning.

Mom should finish the write-up for her masters this week. I'm sure she'll be glad when its over.

We are going to Warden Friday afternoon to Sunday to my 40th class reunion. We start at the Coral Cafe and then to Wild Bill's Drive-in. We finish up at Potholes and then a linger-longer at the Warden City Park. I'm looking forward to it. I am trying to convince my friend whom I haven't seen in 40 years to attend. I think he might be there.

Nice Shirts

Our neighbors all commented on our cool red Zirker shirts as we posed for a family picture in the front yard. Hallee, Trent and Korbin all wore their shirts the next day. We like how they have everyone names on them, with the Zirker in a circle.

Hope that the reunion was fun.

Under contract

WE are officially under contract. Keep praying that this one goes through. We're set to close Sept 17! HOORAH!

We made it home Saturday night around 10PM. It was

a long day. We had a great time. Thanks to all for putting it together.
