Dragster time!

Time once again for our yearly trek to the local drag strip for a night of "fire and thunder." This year, Les got to come with us. As usual, they had the jet cars!!!!
Brant

oh yeah...

Koper can say, "mom, mom, mom, mom..." usually when he's hungry or tired!
I love it!

It's Summer!

These past couple of weeks have been a little crazy, thinking Seth had a job and then having their management change, turning in applications for new jobs, finding out that strawberrypearl studios was going to be a little bit more difficult than originally planned if not impossible, and then Seth getting a job and having strawberrypearl studios come together all overnight.

So, Seth was chatting with some of our friends in the ward who work for Loomis's, they are moving this week and he needed to find his replacement, so he chatted with Larry Loomis and when Seth went out to meet Larry, Larry asked if he wanted to work that day. Hooray for our pocket book! Seth is excited to be working with horses, a whole new adventure in life. We went to the stables on Saturday and fed the horses some carrots. Weston is only excited about the horses when we are in the safety or our home... I'm sure he'll grow accustom to them. I've decided his birthday is going to be themed around horses and cowboys! Yeehaw!

On Wednesday, we had an enrichment and I was chatting with my visiting teacher, Lauralee Flores about how I was going to make strawberrypearl studios work. Lauralee is also starting a business so we like to compare notes. The latest drama with the city and permits is that Creekside won't allow me to do a business from my home because it will negate their subsidy and they would lose tax credits. I did my research and found the compliance manual to make sure what they were telling me was truthful. So, I called the city and asked about running the business from mom and dad's house, apparently I have to live there to run the business from there. I told the lady that we practically do live there. I was pretty frustrated and then I spoke with Lauralee about being an independent contractor and possibly working it that way. I did a little research and then around midnight that night I had an epiphany! Woodbury's own Now and Then and Pat told me back in January that they rent out space for people to sell things at the store. I wanted to call Pat and chat with her, but it was a little too late, so I just stayed awake scheming how all this was going to work out. I spoke with her the next day and should be able to open my own boutique at Now and Then later this week!!! Sidenote: Nicole is doing well, she came home last Sunday, Mother's Day. The doctor's are still baffled by the fact that she is alive.

Yesterday, Seth came home from softball practice and the first thing I heard from him while I was in the back was, "Weston, you want to see my owie?" I had no clue what I was going to see when I came out of the laundry room. I have learned to be afraid. This time it was a black eye. They were doing relays and he closed his mit too fast and it popped off the top and socked him good. It was pretty impressive, I don't think the picture does it justice.

Happy Summer!

books

Here are our most recent book recommendations:

Kelly: John Adams by David McCullough- it's a biography about the life of...John Adams. Very interesting.

Travis: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee- his favorite character is still Boo Radley

Has anybody ever read any of the Twilight series, and if so, what did you think of them? (I've already read them and they're hugely popular out here. I'm just wondering if they've made it to other parts of the US)

Notice the yellow sign...

The sign is up but where are all the people. We are anxiously awaiting our first call for the house. No luck yet. Hurry up and wait, right? The news of the sign is making it's way around the ward and Braxton is telling everyone we are moving to Parker. Hopefully this sells fast. I'm tired of living in a model home. The kids can destroy it faster than I can clean it. It's hard work. I did have my piano recital yesterday and I am now taking 6 weeks off so I can relax and keep my house spotless at all times. What a good trade off huh?
Life is still plugging along though. School is out June 2. Braxton is excited. Then summer can truly begin.

Ham Radio

For you unenlightened out there, this is the sort of thing we ham radio operaters use to communicate with each other. The University Stake told all the bishops to get their amateur radio license as part of the emergency preparedness program of the stake. After about 6 months, I am the only one that has done it. This morning I asked the stake where the radios were and the stake clerk took me into the stake president's office and handed me this one. I came home and called Brant and said, "now what do I do?" He is patiently working me through the operation and etiquette of the system.
After months of complaining, the temperature hit 90 degrees yesterday and now it is too hot. It is supposed to moderate later in the week and get back somewhat to normal.
Today they released my two counselors and sustained two new ones. The ones that were released had both graduated and will be moving on. The three student married wards will be combined for the summer (against my better judgement) and met together for the first time today. My ward conducted which is nice because we now have two weeks off until it is our turn again.
Life is good. Mom only has parts of three weeks left. Seth is working for Larry Loomis and is starting to talk like a farmer/horseman. I think he is doing kind of what Charlie Peterson used to do. He and Lacey took Weston and Koper out to see the horses yesterday. They were way too big from Weston's point-of-view.
That's it for now.
