So, I got a call back from the City today concerning any permits that I might need to operate my business. It turns out that I will need a conditional use permit which takes about six weeks to obtain and a $240 application fee. I will also have to go to a city hearing and appear before the council. The county doesn't require anything, but the city does. As part of the application, I have to obtain permission from the property owner to operate my business. Something about burning bridges when we stopped working for Creekside... We really tried hard not to burn bridges when we left and to leave on a positive note. I just emailed the owners to obtain their permission. I guess I'll find out whether or not any bridges have been burned. Prayers, I need prayers.
When talking to the city I asked what penalty there is to operate without a permit and it's a misdemeanor. I double/triple checked that this is all necessary and she said that home based business are kind of in a tough place when it comes to city code and that they are thinking about redoing it. I would vote for that!
So much for being honest... :)
